Shattering Glass is working to ensure that our daughters, granddaughters, and their children can achieve their dreams, know their worth, and live in a world free of barriers, discrimination and bias. We do this through advocacy, education and outreach, working to eliminate discrimination and bias and to secure recognition of the ratified federal Equal Rights Amendment (“ERA”), paid family leave, equal pay and economic security, reproductive freedom, and equal opportunities regardless of gender.
Our recent efforts have been laser focused on the publication of the ERA as the 28th Amendment to our Constitution. We have met with Governors, US Senators and Representatives from across the country, gender justice and democracy-focused organizations, labor unions, and medical associations. As a result, we have built a diverse coalition of support for ERA publication, which we are actively working to make a reality. Those efforts include garnering additional support for two resolutions pending in Congress calling for the immediate publication of the ERA.
The next few weeks and months are critical to finally guaranteeing constitutional equality for women, girls, and LGBTQIA+ persons, as well as protecting reproductive rights for all Americans.
Constitutional equality is a crucial first step in the fight for gender equity and gender equality as it insulates the fundamental rights of women, girls and LGBTQIA+ persons from the whims of politicians and the judges they appoint. Something we now know is critical following last year’s Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, and the continued attacks on our rights since then.
Today is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving -- and together we can do even more to make gender equality a reality. In the current environment, our work is more important and, sadly, more challenging than ever. And we cannot do this without you! It will take a courageous, loud, collective voice to win the fight.

Take Action. Our website includes an up-to-date listing of what you can do to support the fight for gender equity and gender equality. The most imminent action items are (1) emailing and texting President Biden and Vice President Harris urging them to publish the ERA, and (2) contacting certain US Senators and Representatives and asking them to co-sponsor S.J.Res.39 and H.J.Res.82, calling for the immediate publication of the Equal Rights Amendment.
